It’s my personal opinion you should not buy it, since it seems to be almost identical to the Grammatix SAT Guide you can find online.

I bought Mike Barrett’s “SAT Prep Black Book.” It’s not very good, in my opinion. I disagree with several points the author makes in the book – specifically his positions on guessing, studying vocabulary words, and planning out SAT study. The book contains Barrett’s philosophy on how the test is structured, his approach to the different sections of the test, and his rambling explanations of hand-picked questions from the College Board’s SAT study guide (big blue book). I agreed with his comments about using “good quality” questions generated by the College Board for SAT study, but most people would consider that common sense. I didn’t really like his approach on several of the math problems. For the reasons above, I cannot recommend buying Barrett’s “Black Book.”

About Mike Barrett…
An Internet search turns up a “bio” that Barrett posted on his Testing Is Easy company website. [Feel free to read the bio if you like.](<a href=“Quest Prep – It's Dangerous To Know Alone”>Quest Prep – It's Dangerous To Know Alone) Surprisingly, there aren’t many specific details about his background, which I think is a little strange. He claims to have studied linguistics in college, taken up fencing, and obtained vast amounts of experience successfully preparing students for the SAT, ACT, ISEE, SSAT, LSAT, and GRE. Reading between the lines, I must conclude that the reason for the lack of detail…is that his background isn’t so impressive. That being said, I’ll be the first to state that a person’s educational background says nothing about his ability to teach. In real life, he could be a pretty good teacher…maybe. One webpage implies that Barrett is East Coast-based and receives tutoring referrals from Mich
