I know being black has to help out a little, but here are my circumstances, tell me how much it'll help. I did badly in my competitive high school, I got a 3.3 GPA, a 1400 SAT, scored 4's on 4AP Tests. So I decided to go to a state college this first year. I really want to go to Georgetown so I have a 3.8, probably will end up with a 3.9. And I'm involved in a lot of stuff. Will my college GPA erase my high school GPA? do I have a shot?

I think you've got a great shot, black or not. A 3.8ish GPA with a 1400 is pretty solid for a transfer to Georgetown. By the way, when I went on a tour there, they said that they accept a lot of transfers due to the fact that so many people study abroad, and there's always space available. Good luck!

That's encouraging. But will my high school GPA hurt me?

What state school, easy or hard or just average???

it depends on the school at gtown. SFS youre just "within the range," but arts and science you are a very good candidate (i personally would bet that youd get in). SATs are vg, a 3.9 should help balance that 3.3 in HS. go fot it.

Ur good niga.

^thanks my ninja

Alabama, Huntsville. People who are really psyched about going to the school say its hard, because its where alot of NASA or engineering people are, but it doesn't seem that difficult to me.

By the way, I don't care whether AA's good or bad, but do colleges care if you're African American or if you're just African? Is it just the color that counts?

The theory is that only African Americans who have faced historical discrimination here should get the boost. The reality is that African immigrants still mark down the African American box, and they get the boost as well.
