You sound like a hard-working young man who has done very well. Many colleges will be interested in you. My DD is black and will be applying along side you.

Your current SAT scores will most probably put Dartmouth and Brown out of reach. They reject 75% of black candidates. Having a 6, if not a 7 in front of each SAT score is important.

Have you done all you can to bring the scores up?

All are slight reaches-reaches at the moment, but improved SAT scores could put all of them well within reach
...dual enrollment will help you a lot, wish I could do that...maybe you should take the english class to help you with your SAT's

Good luck

chance me @ "if ur sex and u know it clap ur hands"

Your 1100 SAT score is very low for someone who's in the top 2% of a competitive private school. Honestly, it looks like there's something wrong if you're getting an A in advanced English alongside a 510 in critical reading. A 590 in Math alongside math tutoring also does not match up. Perhaps the ACT will suit you better as many bright kids who find the SAT a difficult format do better on it. SAT IIs are poor as well, a 540 in Math II is not good and a even a projected 680 is not impressive on a test where 20% of the takers get an 800. And how exactly are you planning to take the SAT II in bio if you are taking the course senior year? Many of your schools require SAT IIs so get at least two or three solid scores in the Fall. Maybe you should take the Spanish one? These test scores are really your weakpoints that would put the more elite schools on your list into the reach category.

CMU Computer Science Department - reach
BROWN - reach
Bucknell - slight reach
Lehigh U - slight reach
Darthmouth - reach
Lafayette - slight reach
Penn State - match

This isn't as bad as it may sound. You have a great class rank and strong ECs. Just improve your SATs and you will have a good shot at many of these schools.

wow, your Junior schedule looks very similiar to what my junior year schedule is going to be, minus the SAT prep classes. but anywho...

i'm also doing Dual Enrollment at Drexel U., maybe i'll see you there this fall. i'm taking intro. to philosophy, chemistry II, and possibly english.

i'm curious, what school do you go to?

chances: I think you would be a much more competitve applicant if you raised your SAT scores to atleast 650+ in each section. also, you might want to consider taking the ACT, considering the fact that you seem to be a very good student (good students usually do better on the ACT).

SAT Scores you definitely gotta bring up. However, your GPA and class rank is very solid. I think besides CMU and Dartmouth, you have a very good chance. I hope you're essay is well written too.

With the exception of your standardized test scores, your stats are pretty good...I think that if you practice you could get over 600 in each SAT I section pretty easily

Like the previous poster said, get the blue collegeboard book and do a bit of SAT practice each day...that's the best way of boosting your score by a considerable amount

you will be doing yourself a huge favor by studying harder for the SAT and going for 2000+, hopefully 2100. It will boost your chacnes significantly
