Indians self-segregate at Duke more than they do at Dartmouth, where for some reason people are pretty integrated.

Celebrian, I know, but URMs tend to have lower average incomes than Asians and Indians, and kb said that "URMS" have higher salaries

I think he meant Asians and Indians, and accidentally typed URM.

no no no...If you're talking URM's in terms of all of America...then yes thoughtprocess...you would be right. I'm talking about URMs at elite universities. I'm saying that those URMs are significantly more well off then the other URMs in the country...i.e a Black kid at Dartmouth is more likely to be well off then a Black kid somewhere in America.

yep, it is very true. I can garuntee there aren't too many middle to low income blacks at dart compared to the wealthy ones.

Very good point, celebrian25. I believe dartmouth is one of those especially rare schools that promotes integration between all races. With duke, the faculty basically lets the differeet peoples figure it out for themselves.

Both are wonderful schools though.

Of course, Duke is an excellent school, but like Wake Forest, I would hate to go there expecting everyone to get along and to find a more hostile environment than I was expecting.

Ohhhh, my bad KB, I misunderstood you.

Yeah, I completely agree, that was a good point.

I'm probably going to Duke, but I love the other great colleges still, and hopefully I see signs of positive integration at my visits.

congrats on duke thethoughtprcocess (man that's a long sn!)
