Blistering state audit says University of California is paying excessive salaries, mishandling funds

“The administration of the University of California system pays top workers salaries significantly higher than that of similar state employees, has provided millions of dollars in benefits not typical to the public sector and failed to disclose to the Board of Regents and the public that it had $175 million in budget reserve funds, a state audit found Tuesday.”

Shocked, not shocked. How is this not front page news? UC is mission-critical to California’s economy. And clearly it is not being managed properly. Very alarming! After seeing the reduction in spaces for in-state students, I had already decided to stop contributing financially to my various UC alma maters. This news validates that decision.
