keep safe everyone!

15 inches and still snowing in Central CT!

I'm in NYC now, and they weren't kidding when they predicted a blizzard!!!!! It's nice and sunny today, but from Saturday night all the way until last night (Sunday) it was non-stop HEAVY snow. I didn't go outside yesterday except once to get some sustenance from the convenience store right next door. Yeesh, it was terrible!

It was kind of a blessing in disguise though. I caught a turrible, TURRIBLE cold which came on strong Saturday night, and because of the storm, I was not pressured in the slightest by my sister to suck it up and go places with her. :) I feel a lot better now, and hopefully I'll be totally healed before my NYU audition on Thursday.

Not looking forward to walking through the snow and slush outside tonight (we're going to get the Rent lottery tickets.) Ah well... :)

Feel better, Samia....and break a leg on Thursday.

second largest snowfall in the area since records were started. Rehearsal for my show was cancelled yesterday but I have a snow day today and and extra day of rehearsal this weekend to make up for it. Hope everyone is keeping warm and has managed to get out of the barricade of snow everyone's house is surrounded by.

Hi Samia! Just wanted to tell you since you're in NYC for the next couple of days, you can PROBABLY get in to see Spelling Bee; they also have a lottery at 5 or 5:30. We had 5 people with us and we all got in last time. Also, there are student rush tickets for the Color Purple; again, we were all able to get in. You need to line up for those at around 11 a.m. My d said it was INCREDIBLE!! (I actually traded my ticket for Spamalot so I didn't see it) Hope you're feeling better for your NYU audition! Break a leg!

Well. we are still here in New York. Snowed in!

We came to see Piazza and were not disappointed. 2nd row center seats. I watched the entire show through a shower of tears. It seems to me now to be the most magnificent musical theatre experience ever.

We spent time back stage after the show with Vicky Clark, her mother and Katie Clarke. Katie's story is really a wild ride and where she finds herself now. Both performances are sheer perfection. Vicky's mother has seen the show 3 or 4 times and feels this is the best cast. (the Fabrizio is new also). What a memorable experience for all of us and the blizzard of 2006 on top of it all.

"It seems to me now to be the most magnificent musical theatre experience ever."

I so agree Mary Anna. I cannot listen to the recording of Victoria Clark's final number, "Fable," without sobbing - gets me some very strange looks while driving my car...... As a theater lover and as a mother, I will NEVER forget her performing that number live, not as long as I live. Sheer brilliance.

I have friends who think she will return to her husband and others who feel she will not. What do you think>?

Ohhhh...so glad to join the Piazza fanclub here. Recently found out I'll have the opportunity to see the show for the SECOND time in late April. (Saw it last June the first time....now the cast is very different.) Cannot wait! I especially want to see "Fable" again because I could not absorb it all first time around. Vicky had so many layers to that performance that I need to see it again. Oh...I think I'll put the CD on now!

For those of you who haven't seen Piazza, there will be a Networks tour beginning late summer/early fall, so keep checking theatres in your area for announcements. Sadly, it looks like the NYC show may not last til July as attendance has been very weak for several weeks now and ticket sales are slow.

I saw the Broadway cast of Rent last night...and OH, was I ever surprised. Okay, some background - I've seen Rent several times, once on Broadway in 1998 or 99 (with Marcy Harriell as Mimi), the national tour twice, and I even saw it in Korea. There's also, of course, the movie. NONE of these compares to the awesomeness I saw at the Nederlander last night. The cast right now is incredible! The acting is SO GOOD!!! (for a change...) When Roger sang One Song Glory, I actually teared up a little, and I've heard that song a million times and never got weepy over it.

Interesting side note though: the actor who played Angel the last time I saw the show in NY is now in the ensemble. He was onstage during I'll Cover You and had to watch the new Angel & Collins sing the whole song...and me and my sister could SWEAR he was trying to sing along the whole time. Teehee. :) He was a fantastic Angel when we saw him last time. :)

I encourage anyone who can to get the lottery tickets for Rent and see it with the current cast. They kick butt.

I'm going to try to see Spelling Bee again tonight!

Samia, so glad you enjoyed the current cast of Rent. The new Roger, Tim Howar, is yet another Canadian to be in that cast! He's only been there a couple of weeks and had a tough act to follow in Will Chase. We've seen Tim in many shows over the years and he's a talented fellow, as is his wife, Ruthie Henshall. I'm anxious to see him as Roger.

The Angel you're referring to is Shaun Earl, and yes, he was a great Angel. He returned to the Broadway cast in June of last year and has played the role of Paul ever since. I don't think Shaun would be up to eight shows a week in those heels!

AAAAHHHH!! I LOVE Ruthie Henshall! She's AMAHZING!!!!! :)

If you all don't already know:

Beginning February 28, Victoria Clark will reduce her performnce schedule to 6 shows a week, dropping Tues and Wed to spend more time with her son. She extended her contracted to play until the close in July.

On a side note: Vicky told me that ticket holders have every right to exchange their tickets if they get to the theatre and the understudies are performing.

Did everyone already know that?

I ran to the box office and exchanged tickets after we sat down and read the program insert that Vicky's understudy would be singing the matinee. We returned for that evening's performance.

xx,Mary Anna

Is that true for ALL Broadway shows?? Hmm.....

rossji, it's generally true that theatres will do that if it's a star with billing above the title. Otherwise, no.

How do you know if the person is enough of a star for that to apply???

If you look at the program/poster/marquee anyone who is listed above the title - if they are not performing that show, you can exchange your tickets....but you have to decided BEFORE the performance.
