Block Scheduling

Anyone else go to a school with block scheduling?

I thought that was the norm?

Nope. My school has a 6 period day with an optional 7th period. However, next year, we will have a mandatory 7-period day. I wish we would go to block instead...

yes thank god!

Yes, and it was great.

My school does not have a block schedule sadly.

My kids had block scheduling. D had math soph. year first block and ONE YEAR later started junior year math the second block. And guess what... SAT in the middle of the year with no math. Very conducive to excellent math scores...not.

yes and i love it. we have 4 blocks a day, and i get the 4th block off on both A and B days. life is good.

I really want my school to have block schedule, but our county's schoolboard is switching every school to a 7-period day.

Why would they choose 7 periods over block (8 periods total)? Also, it seems like there are more advantages with block. Oh well, I guess I'll have to deal with it...

I do and I can't ask for anything better. I love getting assigned homework and only having it due two days later. Esp. if its assigned on a thursday and you have 4 days and homeroom on Monday to complete it.

7 periods? Our school has 9! (no block- 6 day cycle)

I wish we had block schedules- it seems like it would be more productive, and the homework would be somewhat more meaningful. . .

^I think I'd die from the sheer amount of homework I'd have. The most I' ever taken at once was 8 classes and that was more than enough.

I wish we had block schedules. tear, tear

yeah, we have a 4x4

Block is heaven. 4 classes per term. 4 terms a year.

I'm envious of those who have blocks. I have 9 periods(8 classes plus lunch). I go from 8-4pm every day. I get up super early and get home late and do lots of homework. Yay for the little social life that exists here. Our scale owns pretty hard as well(5point spread).

we have block scheduling, but at my school that means we take 7 classes all year (if you have a full load, many juniors and seniors do not... my disapproval) but only have 4 classes each day. periods are 90 minutes long.

We have "block" schedule but we still have a 7 period schedule. Ours is somewhat weird, I guess.

Monday: 7 periods (50 minutes)
Tuesday: Block - 1,3,5,7 (95 minutes)
Wednesday: Block - 2,4,6 (95 minutes)
Thursday: Tutorial - 7 periods with 30 minute tutorial (45 minutes)
Friday: 7 periods (50 minutes)

School goes from 7:35 - 3:00/3:10 and on Wednesdays 9:25-3:05

I like our schedule :) Block periods are way too long for me to deal with everyday, but I also don't have as much homework. Works out.

OmG tako, that schedule is amazing. And you can sleep in a bit on Wednesdays!!!
