so i started a blog that showcases my writing, which is something i'm pretty good at. Would talking about my blog on my college app increase my chances of admission? i'm really interested in stanford.. i plan on making my passion writing

thanks!

If you get some really good recognition for your blog, then maybe. At my high school, there was this one girl who took about 20 APs her junior year to get State AP Scholar. She wrote a blog about her experiences and received a decent following online. And she got into Stanford. But don’t count on receiving the same recognition; there are plenty of blogs run by high school students like you.
Good luck on your blog!

Not really. Having a blog doesn’t require much more than an internet connection.

Having a blog that a lot of people read, so that you become something of a minor celebrity might help. But realize that when I say “a lot of people” and “minor celebrity,” I’m thinking of Style Rookie and Tavi Gevinson. Not a lot of blogs owned by teenagers get that kind of traffic.

As a new member, take advantage of the Search function when you have a good key word like ‘blog’. You can find many similar threads as there are very few questions that haven’t been asked before.

It really depends on how popular it is and what its about. The more educational the better in the colleges eyes.

I ran a fashion blog on Tumblr with 41k followers, and was advised against mentioning it in my college essays because it seemed superficial.

That being said, a writing blog is probably more educational haha.
