Blogging for college applications?

I write a blog under a pen name (for privacy purposes), and I also am a contributor to two very small, independent online publications created by and for teenage girls (also under a pen name). It’s less of a tumblr-type blog, and more of a blog where I’m writing editorials (usually about books, movies, music, feminism, etc.) as well as essays and updates about my life. Sometimes my pieces are really deep and I put a ton of thought into them, and others are more on-the-spot stream of consciousness.

I was wondering if this is something I should mention on my college applications. Do you think it would it make a difference at all? Would it matter that I write under a pseudonym? Would it be a good thing to have as an extra activity, or would my stream-of-consciousness type posts be a turn-off?

Yes. It’s cool. Not sure how much it will matter, but it will definitely help adcomms get a sense of who you are, and that’s very important & potentially very helpful.

(unless, of course, your writing is juvenile, bigoted, or otherwise embarrassing!)
