anyone have any experience with blount initiative program vs honors?

It is possible to do the Blount and be a member of the Honors College. My son, however, was not interested in the Blount program, because he was more of a math/science guy, and t him, the Blount focused more on a liberal arts-type education. If your son/daughter has the required AP scores, I do know of students who bypass the 100-level writing classes and move to the literature level.

thanks momreads, my son also math/science and i wondered if more liberal arts. he is planning to apply for computer based honors and today received invitation to apply for fellows, but got the blount info a few days ago and hadnt heard of that one.

Yes…Blount is more liberal arts…I don’t think a math/science guy would like it. However, for the ones it fits, they seem to like it. They seem to like the living/learning environment…it’s another way to have a small college “feel” within a big university.

And, they do get great profs for BUI.
