blue and gold opportunity plan question?

hello, i was wondering if i would qualify for the blue and gold plan, my mom is a single mother with two kids and makes under 80k (around 75k), but she does have some retirement money and assets saved up, around over 200k, (worked very hard to save) and i myself have little under 5k? any thoughts or ideas, i hope i receive some fa.

i thought it said, “income under 80k”

ps. that money goes STRAIGHT to the school. you don’t see it. do you get the BOG waiver at CC? basically its that, but for UC.

no i didnt get a bog waiver, never heard about it till now

OMG. do you go to CC?

its free tuition for CC! have you been paying out of pocket for units???

Choose the college at this website, and it might help you estimate what you would receive.

Remember it’s just an estimate based on the answers you provide.

yah, my mom told me that i probably wouldnt qualify and i never really did look into that, would i qualify?

yeah i sorta doubt if you don’t qualify for that, you won’t qualify for B&G.

but you can try. i was reading somewhere on here that they factor in assets though, so i see why you spoke about those other finances.

What it takes to be eligible

1) Be a California resident
2) Demonstrate income below $80,000 with financial need, as determined for federal need-based aid program
3) Be in your first four years as a UC undergraduate (first two for transfer students)
4) Meet other campus basic requirements for UC grant aid (for example, be enrolled at least half-time during the academic year, meet campus academic progress standards, not be in default on student loans, etc.)
5) Submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 2 and provide any additional documentation campuses may request by the specified deadline.
6) Make sure your school submits a GPA verification form to the Cal Grant program, or download the form, have your school fill it out and send it to the California Student Aid Commission

seems pretty clear cut, do you meet all of those reqs?

are you applying this year?

i meet all those requirements above, except im not sure if i would get fa because it says financial need, yet i will try doesnt hurt, and yah im applying this year, are you?

yeah. time couldn’t go by any slower.

i know how you feel, im starting fall sem this week, so in a way this will be a relief and time will go by much quicker than before

i hear you on that buddy.

i start tomorrow. where are you applying?

im applying to all the uc’s except cal, merced, and santa cruz, you?

I think you do qualify.

hey SMCguy, thanks for your input, so im good even though my mom saved up some money

I think it’s based on her yearly taxes. As long as she made under 80k B&G should kick in.

my mom makes around 75k with taxes, and 63 around after taxes

you’ll be fine.

alright, thanks guys for your info, i feel a bit relief now
