I've been informed by myfinaid that I'm eligible for the blue and gold opportunity plan, but I'm not sure exactly how it works and it doesn't show up on my offer letter. I think it's supposed to cover whatever grants/scholarships don't...? Since I only got like $200 in grants, does that mean blue and gold opportunity will cover the rest? When will it show up on myfinaid? Thanks!

Bump, I’m curious because I saw this as well.

What Blue + Gold covers

Under the plan, your systemwide fees will be fully covered by scholarship or grant money if you are in your first four years at UC (two if you’re a transfer student).
The plan combines all sources of scholarship and grant awards you receive (federal, state, UC and private) to count toward covering your fees. If, for example, you receive Pell and Cal Grants and private scholarships that don’t fully cover your fees, UC grant money will make up the difference.
Students with greater financial need can qualify for even more grant support to help defray other educational expenses (like books, housing, transportation, etc.) In fact, UC currently provides grant and scholarship assistance averaging $11,100 per student to more than half of undergraduates.

When will it actually show up on my financial aid offer though? I heard it might not until after the academic year starts?

I saw this same message on my financial aid page as well. However after visiting the link and trying to find out more information I am still not entirely sure how to apply for the program.

If I have already completed all of the steps for a Cal Grant, does it just automatically enroll me as an applicant for the Blue and Gold program as well?

i believe that if both your parents income is less than $80k, you are automatically eligible. There’s no applying because it was part of the fafsa and cal grant applications. But double check to make sure, it showed up on my finaid. Pretty much all my fees were paid for, and half of the rest was covered by whatever aid, grants, and scholarships i was eligible for. Workstudy and loans will cover the other half. This is my case specific, might be different for yours.
