Goes blue and gold aid apply to all schools? oN MY UCSD FIN AID package, it shows that I am eligible for it, but in ucla fin aid summary, it does not mention it. Can i STILL apply? Since, I did not get cal grant, it is important to get something else.

is blue and gold automatically given or you will need to apply for it? It does not show up in my ucla fin aid package.

Anyone please? Anybody received blue and gold? Is it supposed to show up as part of fin aid package?

There is no need to post so many messages so close together. Give people a chance to respond.

Blue&Gold is a promise your systemwide fees will be met with any combination of grants and/or scholarships. To apply, you must have applied for Cal Grant (this includes submitting a FAFSA for the coming year and GPA verification). If you meet the qualifications along with having family income less than $80k. If you qualify, you will qualify at all UCs as it is a UC program (hence systemwide fees ;)).

Often, it seems to appear as a combination of campus grants and a UC grant. Some have reported that the non-campus amount will sometimes show up as “Blue&Gold.” It showed up as “UC Fee Grant” for me before my Cal Grant was applied.

What is gpa verification? How do I submit it? It seems on cal grant statement, my gpa is showing already. Does that mean they have the verification?

I did not get any cal grant. Do I have chance of getting blue and gold? Is it not in my fin aid package. ucla does not even offer any loans in the award letter.

There are only 2 items on my award letter:scholarship and cal grant. Since I am not getting cal grant, I am not getting anything much. iF NO OTHER funds show up on my award letter, does it mean I am not getting anything at all? not even blue and gold?

So far everything we receive is provisional, I just wonder when will we know how much fin aid we are really getting??

why do you bump your own thread

OP:
Your post is able to be edited for a period of 20 minutes. Continually bumping your own thread does nothing more than annoy other posters. You should only post a second time if your time to edit has passed and you have something you forgot to add previously (that is important) or the post has gone more than a day or so without an answer and has fallen off the first page.

GPA verification is something that many CCCs will send out for their students without being requested to do so. This was due by March 2 and if it is not in by this date, you are likely SOL. You can check the status (including when it was received) of your GPA verification at CSAC’s website: <a href=“CSAC - Student Landing Home”>CSAC - Student Landing Home;

I can’t answer if you’re eligible or not. While there are many who are not eligible for Cal Grant, but eligible for Blue&Gold, there is no guarantee you will be as you haven’t shared why you’re not eligible for Cal Grant. The eligibility requirements are a lot more loose as stated for Blue&Gold, though:

There is no hard fast date when financial aid will be locked in stone that I have heard of, but it is possible one exists. It can change when your circumstances change or if new information becomes available (like not being eligible for Cal Grant). In theory, you should have a finalized package long before the due date for your first bill, though. That is, of course, if you have turned in all required To Do items. I know for me as a continuing student, I do not see my aid until after all new students have had their aid packages done. This is usually some time in the summer.

Does blue and gold cover EVERYTHING? I’m going to UCLA in the fall and my total estimated cost is 30 grand and UCLA is gifting me 20 grand. There is still that 10 grand that I need to take out in loans so I was wondering would blue and gold cover that?

blue and gold only covers tuition and fees.

If I receive a Cal Grant for $11,124 will blue and gold only cover the rest of tuition around 3k?

Sorry about posting too much. I did not even realize that I was doing that. I was not intentionally bumping my thread at all.

I did not get cal grant because mine is below cutoff score. But I called the fin aid office yesterday, it seems I got blue and gold, so I am cool with that.

She also says that if you get the cal grant but its amount does not cover everything, then your blue and gold will come in to cover the rest.

jaynami:
Blue&Gold only promises systemwide fees will be met with any combination of grants and/or scholarships. This amount is just over $11k for next year. The additional fees above this are campus fees and are not covered by the promise made by Blue&Gold. Any amount met above systemwide fees is at the mercy of what funds are available and what you qualify for. There is no guarantee above the systemwide fees.

That said, the UCs are often generous with very low income students and the average amount I’ve seen is around $20k in gift money for 0 EFC students (or a similarly very low EFC). The rest is often in work study and loans.

GoMiamiDolphins:
Although it’s silly semantics, you have to think in terms that in-state students are not charged tuition. They are charged fees. Only out of state students are charged tuition (which is around $20k). Blue&Gold does not cover tuition as tuition is only charged to out of state students and they are not eligible for Cal Grant.

That additional $3k you’re thinking of is campus fees. As I mentioned above, Blue&Gold does not promise this will be met with any combination of grants and/or scholarships. It only promises systemwide fees which are just over $11k (the same amount as Cal Grant ;)). If you have Cal Grant, your Blue&Gold promise has been met and you will receive no additional money unless systemwide fees are raised mid-year. Then Blue&Gold will make sure that the new short fall is covered.

That said, they often seem to cover that amount anyways with campus grants or some other grant or scholarship. There’s just no guarantee.

Gattacamz:
So you were competing for the Competitive Cal Grant? There is no point system with the Entitlement Cal Grant, only eligibility requirements. Since it sounds like you did not qualify for the latter, the former is much more difficult to get as it is only given out in limited numbers (the Entitlement is given to everyone who qualifies).

Assuming that’s the exact wording the person used, it’s misleading. Blue&Gold only promises to meet systemwide fees. It does not promise to meet campus fees.

The third bullet point does leave it open to interpretation, but it is still clearly not a promise/guarantee that more than systemwide fees will be met. It is stating a possibility that more grant money **can/B be received for very low income and very high financial need.

I am glad to hear you’ve had it confirmed you do qualify for Blue&Gold :). That is always a huge stress relief.

my SIR was deferred, and i am in the blue and gold plan, so do i need to pay the SIR fee??

The SIR fee is a sort of like a down payment for the fees one will be charged. A deferment just means it will be charged later. So yes and no. It does need to be paid later, but it is not an additional fee on top of the COA.
