Blue Book 2nd Edition vs. 1st Edition

I'm a Junior who wants to take the Sat I in October. I don't have the time in Spring or Winter to study for it with AP exams and sports, so October's my best bet since I get two solid months of Summer to study, and then September. So my question is this, does anybody know if the two Blue Books might have overlapping tests? I don't want to get both and then find out the 2nd has same as the 1st.

I dont think anybody knows the answer to this yet except maybe College Board. I too have ordered the 2nd edition. But, in the description it says “3 new recently administered tests” so there will be at least 3 new tests. But its being released July 21 so I’m sure we’ll know by then if the other 7 tests in the 2nd edition overlap with the 1st edition.

Looking forward to that new edition, especially for the new practice tests!

I also wonder if these overlap with the 7 online course practice tests…

yea, you should buy the second edition when it comes out, since it is the better buy of the two with 2 extra practice tests. Then, when you run out, you should take a look at the old one and see if there are any different tests in it.

Meaning that the new blue book will include 3 QAS’s.

I can’t imagine College Board going out of its way to make 7 new SAT’s for this book, so there will probably be some overlap with the old BB and maybe the online course.

the 3 new tests in the 2ed Official Guide (OG) aka “blue book” are as follows:

Test 1 = Oct 2006 QAS
Test 2 = Jan 2007 QAS
Test 3 = May 2007 QAS
Tests 4~10 are in the NEW OG are simply tests 2~8 from the OLD OG.

You don’t even need to buy the 2ed OG if you have some upperclassmen buddies willing to give you the above QAS test booklets they might’ve received several years ago. A quick internet search will also turn up the above QAS online in PDF format.

You are correct; however, this thread is more than a year old.

^However, it provided me with some useful info.

The 2nd edition also has online explanations for the practice tests.

Is it true that the 1st test in 1st edition is not anywhere in the 2nd edition?
