<p>can anyone help me with this. If the area of the square in the figure is 81 and the perimeter of each of the 4 triangles is 30. What is the perimeter of the figur eoutlined by the solid line. I thought since the area was 81, then each side was 9 and so 9*4=36. But, the answer is D, 84. Can anyone help??

<p>The area of the square is 81, thus the length of each side of the square is 9. Each side of the square is also a side of the three sides of each of the triangles.
So you know that one side of the triangles has a length of 9. The other two sides of the triangle have a length of 21.</p>

<p>There are 8 outside triangle sides and every 2 outside triangle sides has a sum of 21. 21 x 4 = 84.</p>
