Blue Book Question

Not in the thread so I feel like a real idiot, but it is my first one since I prepped for June.

Page 718 #8

The price of ground coffee beans is d dollars for 8 ounces and each makes c cups of brewed coffee. In terms of c and d, what is the dollar cost of the ground coffee beans required to make 1 cup of brewed coffee?

Thanks I sort of get it but I need to learn this type of problem. Any advice.

anyone??

THANKS

Assuming the question reads '...and each OUNCE makes c cups of brewed coffee', here's one approach:

Price per oz of ground coffee = d/8 or 0.125d (in $ per ounce)

Each oz of ground coffee makes c cups of brewed coffee, so
Price per cup of brewed coffee = (Price per oz of ground coffee) / c
= 0.125 (d/c)
