Blue Book Test #8 - Questions

<p>I know this is quite a bit but please respond, at least to some:</p>

<p>Section 2:</p>

<li>[Something of] a phenomenon [in] the entertainment world, political satirists…[No Error]</li>
</ol>

<p>I put that Something of was incorrect but it was no error. I’m confused; I thought something of doesn’t agree in number with “political satirists.” I thought that it was wrong since something is singular and satirists is plural. Explanation? </p>

<li>I put that it should be deleted since it adds info. Why does it merely have to be changed?</li>
</ol>

<p>Section 4: </p>

<li><p>One of the few sentence completions I’ve gotten wrong. Doesn’t husbandry mean agriculture. I looked up extripation and saw that it can’t work but why does husbandry? </p></li>
<li><p>I had D and A is correct. Why? I think I may have gotten this if I read two sentences before the citation. I’ve usually been reading the sentences before and after the citation when going through these questions. Should I go for two before?</p></li>
<li><p>Why A not B?</p></li>
<li><p>Why A not E?</p></li>
</ol>

<p>Section 5:</p>

<li>Why E?</li>
</ol>

<p>Section 6:</p>

<li><p>I got this one right, but I wasn’t quite sure. I just want to make sure that it is disclosure because that paraphrases announcement. However, why can it not be instance?</p></li>
<li><p>This one was probably the one I deliberated on the longest. Why is it B and not C? I thought that B was an inference. </p></li>
<li><p>Got it right, but educated guess: Why E and not B</p></li>
<li><p>Why does visited mean afflicted? I thought that was a trap since afflicted is mentioned later so I put haunted. </p></li>
</ol>

<p>Section 8:</p>

<p>16: I put B but it is E. I plugged in numbers so why isn’t it E?</p>

<p>Section 9: </p>

<li><p>I got it right, but if I knew what prospectus meant I probably wouldn’t have been able to choose between that and manifesto. They seem similar, so what makes them different?</p></li>
<li><p>Why E not A? Isn’t E not stated? Then again neither is A, but usual is paraphrased.</p></li>
</ol>

<p>Section 10:</p>

<li>Why E not D? I thought nevertheless was needed since they missed their stop and laughed about it but would still nevertheless have to find their way somewhere in spite of their jubilation. </li>
</ol>

<p>Also just as a general question, for the both…and construction, is exact parallelism needed? For example, would this be wrong:</p>

<p>…both in China and Italy… --------- since there is no in before Italy?</p>
