Hey all!

Did anyone but me apply for the Musical Theatre degree in Frost instead of the BFA?

I see so many acceptances to the BFA- and none for the BM! It confuses me… is it a lower degree? Is that why no one applied?

Anyone?

I'm really curious about this.

Hi, ThespianDreams,
My son is a freshman in the BM Musical Theater program at UM. The 8 BMs and the 8 BFAs are considered the conservatory and take all their classes together. Those who audition for the BM might come in with a little more ability to sight read, or with a little more knowledge about theory. In the end, the only difference is the BMs will take a bit more theory and piano throughout their four years, and the BFAs would take theater history and perhaps a directing class. I would guess that stronger musicians would tend to apply through the Frost School of Music for the BM; it's certainly not considered a lesser degree. Will you be attending next year?
