I am an incoming freshman and I was accepted into BME. I can’t find a lot of information on the BME program at UTD. I was wondering if current students could tell me more about how it is. Are there BME related companies coming into campus ? Or is Dallas in anyway a place for the medical devices industry ? Also, how is the course structure for BME here. I am choosing between CWRU for BME ( which is well known for it, however UTD will be cheaper and the city life at Dallas would definitely be better).
There was a thread from a CWRU student cautioning students about the BME program at CWRU. Maybe you can dig it up.
I would start looking at UTD website for any info on their success with internship/job placement for BME students in the area. Also, call UTD and ask them to give you some info. UTD has a great reputation for CS. But not sure about BME.
I wouldn’t say that UTD is in a bustling cityscape area. It’s in a suburb. Dallas attractions are quite far away from the campus. Have you not visited?
I visited CWRU and that campus felt very bustling because of so much around it- the hospital, museum, music conservatory, art school… Much more urban and busy than UTD.
Isn’t it too late to be just now choosing between these two schools?
My son got admitted to both CWRU and UTD. He ended up choosing UTD due to the free ride. Anyway, if the cost difference wasn’t too much, we would have chosen CWRU.
@vikstar777 Hi, wondering if you did join UTD for Biomed engg, could you let us know if the program is good? My son has been accepted into the same program this year. Thank you!
