Does Emory have a biomedical engineering major?

Emory does not have engineering. There is a possibility of doing the 3+2 program, with two years spent at GA Tech.

So what would a person wanting to be an engineer do? That is, what would be a good major for them?

The simple answer is that a person interested in BME should major in BME. I love Emory and will talk it up to anyone, but if you are really interested in engineering, it'd probably be a good idea to go to a school with an engineering program. Duke, Vanderbilt and Rice all come to mind, if you're thinking mid-sized private universities in the South.

Okay. I'm actually from MN, so Emory is basically the only school in the South that I'm looking at.

You should really look at Vanderbilt, because they have a great BME program and its a really good university in the south.

Yeah, I've considered Vanderbilt.....when is their deadline though? I've heard they've not got any extra essays, but it would probably have to be a January 15 deadline because I don't think my school's college counseling office is sending anything over break....damn.

well the deadline is Jan. 3, so if you can get in by then then I think you have a shot.

Most ppl in GA who want to do BME go to GA Tech. I think Emory and Tech have a collaborative program in BME but I'm not sure whether that's for undergraduates.

Okay, I've a question then.

My school has already sent everything to Emory and I have done everything besides the "Why Emory?" essay. Do you think I should follow through or bail out?

P.S. I've decided to apply to Duke and Vandy instead, as they have very renowned BME programs.

Have you paid the application fee? If not then bail out.
