BME for Pre-Med?

I'm currently in high school and I was researching universities and came across several BME programs. I've searched around for opinions on taking BME for pre-med, but I'm getting mixed answers. Some saying that BME is a really hard major, some saying lots of BME majors get into medical school, and the most confusing thing, some people are saying it has plenty of biology courses and others are saying it barely has any. If I were to keep my GPA high enough, say a 3.7, would I be prepared for MCAT or medical school? Just to be clear, my long term goal is to become a cardiologist, but I'd like to apply engineering knowledge to my work, maybe even do research in that area.

Truth is, it is most likely different from school to school, so you have to ask/research at school of your interest. Another truth is that engineering is the hardest major, so getting high GPA is harder than with other majors. Another point is that high GPA will not prepare you good enough for MCAT, nothing will, but spending few hours every day for several weeks (sometime few months) actually preparing for MCAT with all kind of MCAT prep. material, doing it in addition to your academic workload. If you do not do, chances are your MCAT score is going to be low. Hold on in regard to medical specialty, it is way to early for you to decide, take one step at a time. Right now the goal is to get to college and get as high college GPA as possible (3.6+). Then in couple years, prep. for MCAT as good as you can, take MCAT and see where you can apply based on your stats (MCAT/GPA). Your other very important goal is to enjoy yourself as much as you could during your UG years. Be at the place that fits your personality and wide range of interests, travel, make new friends, try something that you have never thought trying, participate in medically related EC’s and pursue your personal interests. If you think you might like engineering, try it. You might like it, and you might not. Engineering is not for everybody, being MD is not for everybody either. Do not get discoraged. Whatever happens, there are always solutions if you evaluate your situtaion with cool head, there are various options. Do not pile up all at ones on your laps. Take one step at a time, then evaluate where you are. Best wishes!
