BME -> Med school?

I am thinking of doing BME and going to a med school.

Is BME is really harsh in terms of GPA? As we all know, med schools are GPA oriented, and I want to know how this affects my future.

Any feed back welcome.

I'm a current BME sophomore all I can say is that it's gonna be tough. A lot of the BME courses are set on a curve (B/-), but when your applying for med school you need As. If your ready to work a little harder you should be just fine. I believe of the bme students that applied to med school nearly all (if not all) got into one or another.

thanks for your insight.

Are almost all BMEs looking to go to med school?

Does the university hinder students' applying to MED school if their GPA are low?

ultimatemath,
The truth is there is a larget percentage of freshmen BME who are considering pre-med. But as the years pass by more and more drop the pre-med position. This is for a number of reasons. The of the ones that are pre-med usually drop out of BME entirely and take an "easier" major. Others drop out of pre-med and BME and do something entirely different. And lastly the vast majority of BME who are pre-med drop pre-med and stick with BME because, as my advisor says, people find BME interesting enough that they would rather go to grad school than med school.

Sophy,
Not entirely. They can't stop you from applying or getting a recommendation from your advisor. But if you go against your advisor's suggestion (of not applying), then most likely your recommendation will state that (and look bad), and you won't get in anyways.
