Once we've got our acceptances, how do we know if we've been accepted to BME or not? Does it come with the packages, or is it only released later?

Thanks.

Once we've got our acceptances, how do we know if we've been accepted to BME or not? Does it come with the packages, or is it only released later?

Thanks.

There'll be a letter from Dr. Nick Jones (Dean of the Whiting School of Engineering) in your packet that has your BME decision

Thanks. :)

FYI - The reason why this decision is made available by mail and not included with your admissions email is because it is a departmental decision, rather than just an admissions office decision.

what are the accept rates to the BME major?

I have no idea what the admit rate is...but I'm also pretty sure that the statistic isn't generally released. If it is to be released, Daniel will post it on his blog. But I think that's sort of a pipe dream.

That'd be awesome if I get into BME. I'm just anxiously awaiting my mail packet.

Thanks to JHU_michelle and tanman for fielding these questions the last two days. If you all had just checked the blog or the JHU forums you would have gotten the answer about BME not being released in the emails:

From the Blog:
http://hopkins.typepad.com/hopkins_insider/2007/03/decision_day_ha.html
"Decisions about acceptance into the Biomedical Engineering (BME) major are departmental decisions and therefore we do not release such information through email or over the phone. All applicants who applied to the BME program will learn of their decision when they receive their acceptance package."

Hopkins Forums Thread:
http://z14.invisionfree.com/Hopkins_Forums/index.php?showtopic=323

As far as BME statistics, we do not release such information since they are departmental decisions. We will enroll a freshman BME class of between 100 - 120 students.

The problem comes really when you can't access either of those... :p

Thanks though admissionsdaniel as well as the rest. I'll live in the hope of being able to access typepad one day. :D

I received my admission package today, but there was no letter relating to BME; two were from Student Financial Services and one was from the Director of Undergraduate Admissions. Does that mean that I was not accepted into the BME program, or is there something coming later?

I applied for the BME program as my first choice on the application.

Since this is a departmental decision which is not released via E-mail or phone, is there any one who I can contact in regards to this?

That is something I will have to check into when I return to the office. Please send me an e-mail daniel.creasy@jhu.edu and I will respond to you after checking your application file. Please include your full name, birth date, and high school. Also, I would suggest you check the application materials you sent in to make sure that you applied to the BME program as your first choice major. Only students who selected BME as their first choice major on their JHU application or JHU Common Application supplement were reviewed for the program.

i never applied for the BME major, but i am offered into it.
anyone else?

Um.. that's really weird. Maybe someone else with your same name got accepted to BME and they sent the BME letter to you?

tanman's probably right. Not enough spots in BME for Hopkins to offer to people who didn't apply. Hopefully, that means I still have a chance....

yea christina you better double check and call them because I got a post card way back when I applied to JHU with the wrong name. Evidently, they mixed up the names and profile. But after alerting them via email, the problem was immediately fixed. +)

referring to christina2007's post:

Only students who applied to the BME program were reviewed for the program, and only student who applied to the program were offered admission to the program. I run the BME selection committee and I am absolutely sure of that.

Just know that there is not a separate application for BME -- all you need to do is select it on the JHU application or common application supplement as your first choice major -- #03 on those applications. Anyone who did that and was admitted to the University, were then reviewed for BME.

You should really double check your application, as I am pretty sure that you will see that you applied for the program.

I received your message - thank you - and will get back to you personally soon.

oh. i honestly thought i went in to all my colleges as undeclared because i dont really know what i want to do yet. sorry guys.

is there any way i can go back to look at my application online. when i log on, my application is blank with nothing filled out...

once your application is submitted you are not able to go back and access it again. If you are curious to know which majors you selected when applying to Hopkins you can send me a private message with your full name, birth date, and high school and I can look it up for you.

Is it true that 90% of JHU undergrad applicants to JHU medical school get in? Does JHU like to accept many of its own students?

plus does JHU have gpa deflation for bme (biomedical engineering) and does JHU have a possible business/ management science/ econ minor that a studetn could combine with a bme major?

Your answers are greatly appreciated

Senior007, see your other thread where you asked the same questions
