I am starting to think about getting my class registration ready for BME (pre-med). I will be taking AP Calc AB and AP Chem in a couple of weeks. I will not have the results until July. How do I go about scheduling my classes when I do not know my AP scores? Will I set my schedule up as if I do not get the AP credit? If I get a 4 or 5, do I change my schedule?
I am having a lot of trouble finding a way to get all of my classes in if I do not have AP credit. I will have other AP scores in psych and Government to use as humanities and social science. I am finding some conflicting information between the Duke Bulletin from 2011 and some of the information I am getting from the Duke pre-health advising website. I have not yet committed to Duke, so I do not have an adviser.

Is it possible to complete the BME pre-med in four years without AP credit or summer school? I’m looking over my state’s medical school entrance requirements. They include biochem and genetcis above the four semesters of chemistry. It doesn’t seem like I can fit everything into four years.

You can fit anything in 4 years with some overloading (5 classes).

“I have not yet committed to Duke…”

Why are you even scheduling classes right now?

I have been accepted to Duke, and I am still debating if it is my best route. I do have a few other schools to consider but would not be BME. I am trying to lay my class schedule out to see what it will be like. As far as I can see right now, I will have to overload for 5/8 semesters. I’m not sure if I am missing something.
