BME program

I am a prospective student for fall 08, and i am deciding btw a few universities.

does anybody know much about the BME program at Uconn? I know that it is accredited, but i wanted to know if u feel the program prepares u well. Also, as Uconn is "in the middle of nowhere," can u still get good research and work experience in the bme field.

I also want to pursue a career in medicine, do u feel that Uconn prepares u well for it? Would it be hard to maintain a high gpa doing both the BME and pre-med track? Are there enough clinical volunteer experiences to help u in applying to med school?

I'm not BME or engineering at all for that matter, though I do know a bunch of them. I do know, however, that you can definitely got a lot of research experience here; there are many professors willing to let you work in their labs.

As for the premed thing... it depends entirely on your own abilities, but it will probably be harder to maintain a high GPA as an engineer. There are a lot of clinical and volunteering opportunities, especially through Community Outreach. Most of them are not on campus, but for the ones that are run through Community Outreach, transportation is provided.
