I just got interested in biomed engineering a couple days ago haha...but i didnt apply for it initially (still accepted though without writing the other 2 essays). is there any chance i can come out with that major without getting in my entering year. also, how difficult is it to switch majors in engineering fields and possible double major in eng/humanities?

Towards the end of your freshman year, you can try to apply to switch into BME. This thread has information about switching into BME.

As for your other questions, it is very easy. Switching between majors and double majors is just a matter of a few pieces of paperwork. Even if you don't get accepted into BME, there are other bioengineering related options on campus - the biomolecular engineering concentration in the chemical & biomolecular engineering major, the biomaterials track within the materials science & engineering major, and the biomechanics concentration in the engineering mechanics major.

i think coming into the bme program would be hard after you start attending hopkins since it's the only major that has a limit on the students allowed in the major...so if no students drop it, then there will be no students allowed to enter it.

but would say a biomechanics major take many of the same classes as a BME major? or would it be a totally different experience?

bump

If you chose biomechanics concentration, your initial classes would be mechanical engineering classes, just like the mechanical engineers who don't choose the biomech. concentration. However, you would also take biology classes and your upper level electives could be taken in the BME department.
