There are people who don’t really like Exeter’s food, but I do. Plus, there’s two dining halls + grill so I always have somewhere to eat.
Love Lawrenceville, but the food here is highly mediocre.
@mrnephew - That is the same thing our tour guide told us at Middlesex.
At Andover, the stir is good, but the lines are sooo long. I have some dietary restrictions, so lately I have tried many strange salad combinations (They always have some weird thing available - the other day I had black bean hummus. It was good.) and I’ve never really been disappointed. I love that they have ice cream and change the flavors up frequently, but I am not about this new wheat bread/brown rice health kick they are on. Another note - before coming to Andover, I rarely ate a decent breakfast, but now, even though my dietary restrictions rule out the majority of breakfast foods, there is always something. I really appreciate that.
It’s not like Andover has restaurant quality food. It is just that the food is so fresh and varied. Granted I have only been here for two weeks, but there hasn’t been a day without at least one new thing.
Now if only I could remember the password for the insta account…
Give it another week. The menu does cycle.
The first Instagram post is up! Send pictures and captions to boarding bites @ gmail . com (no spaces). Feel free to send in anything non-food related; “bites” doesn’t have to mean bites of food! (Lurkers, if you exist, feel free to send stuff too.)
Week #3: Korean beef tacos and Moroccan chickpea soup - Still waiting for the menu to cycle… Of course, they do repeat things, but there is something new, too. That’ll probably settle down after a while, though.
@natakwali Send in a pic when you can!
Do current boarding school students with siblings in college and the recent boarding school grads still say that most boarding school food is better than what you find at most college dining halls? (I know Groton has a reputation for wicked awesome school food.)
My son spent the summer on a college campus and said boarding school dining hall was better.
Hell to the yes.
“It’s a step down from prison food” – Kid at my school interning at a university. That’s highly exaggerated, I know
ChoatieCadet reports that the food at West Point is leagues better than Choate and he’s been there almost a year now. I always found the food at Choate to be wonderful, but kiddo says they pulled out all the stops when parents were on campus, so I guess I can’t comment on the regular menu.
We’re here for Plebe Parents Weekend and will tour the mess hall this morning. “Mess hall” really doesn’t sound very appetizing, but the cadets assure me the food is very good, and the facility is truly gorgeous. There is a formal ball tonight and dinner will be served there. I don’t really care what they serve, I get to hug and stare at my cadet!
Have a wonderful day and enjoy the ball, @ChoatieMom!
Exeter has a student-run Instagram page with ideas for recipes/food hacks, so that might give an idea of what food is like:

@skieurope My apologies for the rookie question, but for future reference why was the link provided by @GreenGirl77 not allowed?
@AppleNotFar Per [Terms of Service](https://auth.collegeconfidential.com/module.php/hobsonspolicies/policy.php?policy=tos) this site does not allow links to any personal websites/blogs, etc. So that eliminates most social media sites like FB, twitter, and Instagram. One good rule of thumb: If after posting, there are asterisks in the post, that means that the word/link is not allowed and the post should be edited.
@skieurope is GreenGirl77 allowed to PM the link?
@Anonymousia Yes
