Mine right now is:
St George’s
Deerfield
Lawrenceville
Groton
Loomis Chaffee

and a local private day school.

My fav. atm

Ballerina: I thought you were considering Williston…? Or maybe that was someone else.

hey guys! anyone knows how any sophmores st paul’s takes?

Hey! Do schools disclose how many students for each grade they are looking to accept? Since it is not on their websites, is it sensible to call and ask them?

@blehjoints:

That answers your SPS question.

@student:

Those answers are usually under the Admissions tab of most websites in the FAQ (or synonymous) named subpage.

@AlexMac

Thank you! I hadn’t checked the FAQs; most schools actually gave some information regarding new students in each grade.

@rizzledrizzle - I was, but then my safety became a local school that my mom just got a job at. I might still apply to Williston, but for now, I’m pretty sure thats my list!

how do people find how many spots a school has for sophomores? I need to find out for Loomis, Miss Porters, NMH, Choate, and St. Andrews…

for choate, they accept alot of new sophomores (in relative to other schools). The new incoming sophomores make up 30% of the entire class!

This will be my third time applying to boarding school and I think this just might be my year hopefully. The first time I applied to 3 schools Andover, Hotchkiss, Loomis and Taft the second time I applied to Andover, Hotchkiss, Loomis (waitlisted), Pomfret(accepted), Choate, Cheshire(accepted), Taft, Deerfield and Groton. And now I am applying for a repeat year I kinda think my credentials are okay. I am applying to Loomis, Choate and Hotchkiss because those are the only schools I see myself at and if I am not accepted i’ll stay at my tragic school.

I think you have a great lesson–continue to persevere despite rejection. Keep trying!

@bronxkid - oh that’s great! choate is one of my current top choices :D

how many ECs did all you past applicants include on the candidate profile? should i include stuff that i have been doing for a long time (>10 years) , but only for leisure?

Yeah, I have a question similar to blehjoints concerning cycling. I use it to get around, and almost every Friday, I bike three miles to my friend’s to hang out and then bike another mile to go to Starbucks, (sometimes more if we want to go out and go to Border’s or Jamba Juice). I’ve been biking since I was five, and sometimes use it to work out.

This interesting quote from a 2008 article reffering to Choate:
“We have 15,000 living alums, and we’ve identified 10% of them as being capable of making philanthropic contributions of $100,000 or more,” says Dan Courcey, the school’s executive director of development and alumni relations. “So 10% have net worths in excess of $15 million.”

Now, being wealthy isn’t a succes o-meter, and I’m sure some or most of it is inherited wealth(ie. JFK types) but that is still very imppressive.

Can the amount of FA determine acceptance/rejection? For example if I ask for 1/4 will it be easier to get in if I ask for full FA?

Hola, I haven’t been on this site in forever! I was going to apply this year for grade nine but didn’t finish applications. I’m applying now for 10th grade and I’m really excited! I’m applying to
Choate
Andover
St. Pauls
Middlesex

Choate’s my top choice, natch, since I did the summer program two years in a row and LOVED it. I got all honors with fantastic teacher comments, and one of my teachers is the head of humanities there so he’s going to write me a rec. I’m really excited.

^ gosh i’ve chosen to apply to the exact same schools as you :D

Haha that’s awesome. Maybe we’ll see each other at our schools if we get in! What grade are you applying for?
