pmed you oh your story sounds super cool! i’m applying for 10th

laughalittle: I think that was alittlebutterfly who said that. haha, but Peddie is at the top of my list. I don’t know, there’s just something about it that makes me feel like I would fit in well, it also seems a little more casual and laid back than the other schools without slacking on academics. And I haven’t even visited!

Cool, glad you think that. I PMed back :)

74 days!!!

@helloel: You’re right! Haha I thought you were the one who said it. I think Peddie, while it is strict and everything, still has time for play. And although during the school year it seems they can’t balance it (believe me, every day when you’re not on break you’re working–pushing yourself %110), you do have these creative outlets. When are you visiting?

I live pretty far away and don’t have time to make it to campus before I turn in my app, but if I’m accepted I could attend revisit day. I didn’t think an interview was required for Peddie, but do you suggest that I schedule a phone interview?

Definitely schedule a phone interview! Peddie students have diverse personalities, which often come out in the interview. I think you should.

@laughalittle- Thank you so much for answering my question! Now I know for sure I chose the right school to apply to!

@ALittleButterfly: No problem! This was the only school you applied to?

@laughalittle- I’m applying to a few other schools besides Peddie. For the swim program, do you know how hard it is to get on the team? I haven’t swam competitively in a year, but I may want to start up again.

It’s tough: not going to lie. They are often considered one of the top, if not THE top, high school swim programs in the country. They’re good. I don’t think you’d be able to get on if you haven’t swam competitively in a year. Of course there are lots of other sports though! It’s just that the swim team is quite prestigious, and really only take the best of the best.

Do they have any kind of instructional type swimming (for students who may not be good enough to get on the team, but want to swim)?

You’re able to take a PE class in swimming (I do it now: Fitness Swimming)…

Does anybody know of any boarding schools that have job opportunities for students? I would like to be able to have some job experience while at boarding school. I know NMH has “work jobs”. What about other schools?

I don’t know if this is what you mean, but at Peddie every student has to participate in a job on campus. For one term each year, you’re assigned a job in a place on campus. Whether the dean’s office or helping in the school store, every student must participate.

@helloel, Episcopal High School has jobs you can do for $$ like pizza delivery to the dorm rooms or also in the dining area. I don’t know what they pay but kids who want extra spending money do them and apparently it’s not a big deal.

Oh, yeah that is what I mean. That’s great! I also want to know if you know of any people that have had separate opportunities to make money while on campus that they voluntarily choose.

This thread is certainly thriving . . . How I’ve missed CC! Wow, 696 posts . . . This is certainly great, and I look forward to it doubling by the time M!0 comes! Any pep talks for me? I’m certainly lacking – both as an applicant and in my current application status – so I need a bit of motivation. To those of you who have already been admitted and are at BS, is it worth it? When did you start working on apps?

We’ve missed you rizzle!!! What is the final list of schools you are applying to?(if you have it)

take a practice ssat if you haven’t yet! I took one last night and i exceeded my expectations which really gave me confidence that I may get in!
