What do you guys think about SPS?

I visited there and LOVED it but there isn’t much of a structure to the campus so I would get lost! xD but I have cousins who go there and they LOVE it and it really is a fabulous school. It has a really great arts program. Isn’t that what you want?

Yes, it is, thanks. So lets add that to my list of schools. O gosh, I hope my dual citizenship helps me when they review my app. Cuz, if you see my chance thread I’m nothing compared to some of y’all.

@Ehphant: You’re talking about Stevenson, right? If I apply, I hope I get in, even though it’s not my top choice. A close family friend of ours was an alumni there, so I can get a recommendation letter from him!
I’m curious about acceptance/waitlist/rejection packages. I’ve read this thread that gives a lot of info about it though! It seems like NMH has really good ones!

Ohh…I thought Ephant was talking about SPS

americannigerian: I was replying to an older post on page 4 (:

Haha, there’s stupid me for you. Since M10 is on a Sat. next year, I can stay up and anticipate with you guys on the night of Friday the 9th and most of Saturday. Yayy!

Hey guys!
Just wanted to say that I’m planning on applying to Exeter, Andover, Choate, and Deerfield as a junior (11th grader) next year. I know I’m going to have to work hard, like all of you out there, but from what I hear, it seems that being an international student makes things much harder as well. And on top of that, I will be needing a lot of FA.
Right now, all my options are open, especially because admission at neither of these schools is guaranteed. Well anyways, good luck!

Post #60 was about Stevenson and the other one #62 was about SPS. Oops I should have clarified…

@americannigerian: Haha! If this thread lasts long enough… Freaking out in front of our computers, while our family is staring at us like crazy (:

Oh, and welcome student1996! Thanks for posting! I always thought that being an international student gave you benefits… I guess it depends what country you’re in, then your chances could be enhanced or decreased.

@ rizzledrizzle Yup…cant wait. Its so annoying, I might not be able to go to BS, if I don’t get full or near full FA, but my parents can afford it, and even THEY went to boarding school and so do most of my cousins…ughhh. But first I have to get in to one.

Does anyone know how much of a leg up applying for freshman year entry is?

Same situation with me too! I mean, they CAN afford it, but they tell me that with their negative income tax or something like that I can get the aid. I hope that there’s a decrease in applicants this year…

Does anyone know any school rivals? And I’m not talking about GLADCHEMMS rivals (although feel free to post) but rivals for some good East Coast BS’s.

@American
Well there are more slots to fill up with the incoming freshmen class in every school. But as for individual schools, they accept different numbers of new students as incoming sophomores and juniors to add to their class but the acceptance rate definitely goes down to about 10% or less as a sophomore to schools like DA and Andover

@Americannigerian I agree with deerbri that it is slightly easier to get in as a freshman, it is by no means easy. It may be around the same as applying for other grades justbecause the pool of qualified applicants is huge even though they have more spots.

Well good thing I’m not applying to those! But either way I know what you’re saying – it’s hard for any school I guess.

Yahh, but I mean, I’ll take any advantage I can, however small it may be. Haha, I’m itching to get started on my app, but I gotta wait 'till 8th grade.

You know, I really hope that one of these recent admissions seasons was a peak season for applications. Because, if not, acceptance rates might drop down below 10% and maybe into Harvard range(6 or 7 percent) in the next few years.
