For which schools is it most important to have an on campus interview/visit? In other words, are there certain schools that barely admit anyone that doesn’t make a visit. I originally wasn’t going to visit unless I got accepted because I live pretty far away and would have to miss school, but it has been brought to my attention that making a visit to Deerfield would really increase my chances. I know the goal should be to visit all my schools, but this is just not possible for me. If visits are really that important I will miss school to make a couple. I’m applying to Deerfield, Middlesex, SPS, Andover, Peddie, and Taft. Do any of these schools significantly weigh the fact that you visited more than the others? I really don’t want my chances to be lowered just because I didn’t make a visit. I’m very interested in all of my schools, and I know it is important to express this, but I’ve heard it is more important at some schools.

T- 9 weeks 'till D-day!!! Getting colser and closer

Also, does anyone know the last days to interview for the 2012 spots, for the schools I listed above?

Most of them you have to interview before the apps are due, unless they have extended the interview schedule like Andover did… I’m pretty sure all of the on campus interviews are full

Okay thanks, well i just scheduled interviews everywhere on campus, not Andover though, I did an alumni one. I might have to reschedule one of them though.

I know that the last day to interview at Peddie is January 16th. If you interview afterwards, then you’re placed in a secondary pool.

Oh, really? I didn’t know that, glad I’m planning on visiting next weekend.

I could be a tour guide!!!

@helloel,

It’s not accurate that all schools absolutely require the interview to be done by the application deadline. Contact the schools individually to discuss your situation.

Thanks GMTplus7: I’m going to make a couple more calls tomorrow.

laughalittle: Really? But I think I think I’m visiting on a day when tours available aren’t available, just interviews.

@laughalittle: I’m touring this week, so maybe you will be my tour guide!

What day and what time?

I’ll PM you because I don’t want other people knowing.

How is everyone submitting their graded essay paper? Like do you include the graded rubric page? Also, what is everyone submitting. The only papers I’ve written have been pretty long, like 5-6 pages and I doubt AOs will want to take the time to read them.

Do you think it could be an essay from a quiz or test?

@helloel I had the same question about sending the graded essay paper.

Yeah, I’m going to post this in the essay thread too, to se if it gets any more replies, because I need to figure out what to do soon!

Last year, DS scanned and emailed his graded writing sample, after calling the BS and getting their OK to do it that way.

Bottom line is to check with each school individually. They don’t all have the same policy, no more than your own mom & dad will give you the exact same answer to a request.

Thanks! I’m going to make copies and send them in an envelope just to be safe.

Has anyone interviewed at Taft?

yes! i interviewed today.
