Boarding School Applicants for Entry Year: 2012

I love how Exeter has a DVD in there’s.

Haha! Agreed! So far the packages are pretty good though. Although if they send TOO many good ones it’s going to be too hard to choose!

Lucky ducky… Although I really want to attend, Exeter is a stretch for me…

I really want to request the Andover information even though I have no intention on applying, everyone says it’s so fabulous! But seriously does anyone know if schools resend info?

Ha! Me too Ehphant! Even though it would be an honor to go there, I would never get in.

yeah me to…
do you know how heavily they weight being a legacy in the admissions office? my sister went to bs and i just want to know.

I’d only say it would affect you if you’re applying tithe same BS that your sister goes/went to. But I’m not sure how much it would affect it neutrally/positively.

I did better than I expected on the practice SSAT! I got mid 70’s for the upper and mid 50’s for the lower!

Good luck you guys! rizzledrizzle, why are you taking the upper and lower SSAT?

^agreed. (10char)

Well Exeter is a strech 4 everyone.

Does Exeter have good performing arts.

Well last year when I was a seventh grader I took to SSAT and got mid-50’s but then my parents told me to wait until eighth grade to apply.

I’m pretty sure that Exeter’s performing arts are good–but I’m not sure to what extent.

I don’t get it, when people talk about SSAT scores they are talking about national percentile, right? Is that why you cant get a 100%?

yes, because you cant be better than 100% of people, so a 99 is like a 100

Is 85% a good score for Peddie? Like, better than average?

@americannigerian: The score you need to focus on is the SSAT percentile rank, NOT the estimated national percentile ranks. When you see that a school has a mean SSAT score for its incoming students it refers to the SSAT percentile rank, not the estimated national percentile rank. The pool of kids taking the SSAT is significantly stronger than the national average which is why the estimated national percentage rank will be the higher number.

^I got a 98 for national percentile and a high 80’s overall for just the SSAT percentile!

@rizzledrizzle Yes that’s a good score for Peddie, especially because Peddie looks like it does not focus as much on the SSAT scores as some other top schools (correct me if I’m wrong - I’m just guessing). It is an above average score according to Boarding School Review(70% is average); however that may be inaccurate and/or out of date.
