that's true.

I have never heard of most of these schools. Public education isnt that bad

In order to get accepted in my school we had to(in 10th grade):

Take the SAT I(most kids are scoring in the 1500's in 10th grade).

Submit transcript(most kids have taken 1+ AP already).

Fill out an application similar to college(EC's, essays, etc).

Go and take on campus interviews.

And no public education isn't bad at all. Determined, sincere, hard working people shine no matter where they are.

Okay these are the stereotypes I've collected from attending a private New England day school where the vast majority of students go on to attend secondary schools, and then graduating to a private all-girl's school:

Loomis: Easy to get into, pretty crappy teachers
Choate: Stuck-up artsy/sportsy kids, the best school if you're into drugs, college-style
Taft: Competition everywhere in everything
Ethel Walker: Slutty riders

Just ramblings...ahh...please excuse me after a day of getting my brain burned out from exams...

What do you mean "slutty riders"? Besides LC is not THAT easy to get into....

And i totally agree with sagar_indurkhya, public education isnt that bad, but at my school, everyone is unmotivated and i find that dragging me down as well....

I mean...it's basically a combination of the two main EW stereotypes: being a rider and being a slut. NOTE: These are not MY views...just what I've heard.

And about 60% of the graduating class from my middle school went to Loomis last year...I have a friend who failed everything except English and History and that was the only school she was accepted to. Where I'm from, it's gotten a reputation of being very easy.

oh my god, does ur entire school apply 2 boarding school or something?
i think im the first person in like six years to apply 2 a bs at my school.

What school do you go to Seasonofluv??? My school (i think my whole state, IN) doesn't have anyone applying!!! I still don't understand the "slutty riders" one.

Yeah...usually 100% of the graduating class goes boarding school. But because we live in Connecticut near a lot of boarding schools, most of them are day students.

I go to Miss Porter's. MPS and Ethel Walker...haha slight rivals. We make fun of Walker's girls, they make fun of us...There are basically two stereotypes of Walker's: 1. Very slutty and screwing the Avon Old Farms Boys. 2. It's a very "riding-oriented" school. They have a wonderful riding team and riding is basically the school's strongest suit.

How is MPS? I was considering it, but didnt really like the academics. What do you mean, "screwing with AOF boys"?

I hate to barge in with something unrelated, but I can't find the answer anywhere -

Is there a separate National Merit semifinalist cutoff for boarding school students? In other words, is the cutoff determined by geographical regions of boarding schools instead of following the state cutoffs?

Okay...basically, sleeping around with them, being general "sluts"...this ISN'T TRUE! These are just little rumors, teasings, etc.

MPS is pretty hard...I just started this year and I'm right in the middle of midterms now. I have a Physics final in three hours...which explains why I'm on CC, right? :) But I really think it's great- everyone is really nice. I'm a day student, but I know boarding life is great there.

My family moves around a lot on the east cost (From Manhatten to Vermont, to Florida, and finally in Westchester..and that's only from when I was born) so here are the stereotypes I've heard

Andover: Rich *****es
Exeter: The student body is divided; geniuses, and mellow pot-heads...
Choate: The 'backup school' that's composed of melodramatic students.
Deerfield: Kids from the middle of nowhere
SPS: Perfect people who always do the right thing.
Hotchkiss: The school in the middle of nowhere (Someone once told me about this joke about how you could be murdered there, and your family wouldn't know until like, the next break)

I personally don't believe any of them... :P

I think that Andover and Hotchkiss had the hottest boys (really, really cute one in Hotchkiss!!!!!)

u shallow people.

i went to a public high school. what a loser i am. :(

I'm also a student at MPS, and I've heard of the sterotypes of Ethel Walker, simply because it's our biggest rival, but I haven't heard of what others judge Miss Porter's to be like. Does anyone know of the sterotypes of Miss Porter's?

What are stereotypes of EW , besides "slutty riders"??

I think that is pretty much the main sterotype. At dances, they are know to be the girls that stroll up in very revealing outfits and dance provocativley with the boys. I also don't think they are regarded as a highly intellectual school. I've heard EW to be the school where wealthty, well bred girls who are into horseback riding attend but the school isn' t that rigorous.

"Ethel Walker is where girls who didn't get into Miss Porter's go..."

Hehe..just a joke I heard once I found slightly amusing...
