Hi I just wanted to ask a quick question. I am wondering about choate and hotchkiss. If you are a parent/student please answer. So what made you choose these schools because I like them? If you got into any other schools why did you choose yours?

Thanks
(This is my first cc post)

I am a Taft School graduate–from a long time ago but keep close tabs on the school. Any reason you are not considering Taft? It’s definitely competitive with the other two. Both fine schools as well, of course. But we Tafties consider choate and the “kiss” arch rivals.

@cookie16 I looked into taft earlier and when I tried to find info on their website I found their handbook and it made taft look like not my kind of school I honestly don’t know a lot about taft but if you could give me some information id love to hear it.

Hey, squash, I’m a current Choate student. I applied to both Choate and Hotchkiss and was fortunate enough to be accepted into both schools. I chose Choate because of its location and the vibe I got from my revisit day. Choate is located in Wallingford, a town with lots of restaurants and businesses. Hotchkiss is located in a more rural, quiet neighborhood with very little surrounding the school. Choate also has a more lenient dress code (collard shirt and no denim for boys) while Hotchkiss has a more formal one (jacket and tie I believe). If you are accepted into both schools, definitely go for revisits. You get a good feeling of how you would fit in at the school and that is really important. Feel free to ask me more questions if any come up regarding Choate!

@goldblue thanks for the kind words I am still 1 year away from sending in my actual applications but another question is what grade are you in and what are your favorite classes that you take at choate
