Boarding School Supply List

Thanks so much @skieurope!!! Although my DD is bringing her skateboard - she’s going to California after all ;-)

Saved by a bathrobe… How? Curious… Just don’t be too graphic in your reply.;)

There was one day where the air conditioning was broken going and making the dorms like 40 degrees, and everyone was coming out of the showers trying to get warm.

My VERY fluffy bathrobe was EXTREMELY warm. And thus, I did not freeze to death.

And there were a couple kids whose towels slipped… Suffice to say bathrobes prevent that from happening.

:)

@GMC2918 Oh, no problem packing a skateboard; I use mine in New England. However, for your DD, I’d probably not bring the surfboard on the plane. One essential for her buy/pack list though: a hammock!! Congrats to you and your daughter; Cate is a great school.

Hammock? I’m curious.

@mrnephew Cate’s dorm rooms have balconies or patios. It is Southern California after all ;)

Oh yeah, you gotta have that hammock for your balcony. Nothing like it! But yeah, don’t bring a surfboard. We have plenty, believe me. But a skateboard? For sure. Bikes are slightly more advantageous (though a nightmare to bring out), but skateboards are great to have seeing as the road can take you most places on campus and aren’t hard to get across the country.

I see. Hmm, I guess that won’t be too good of an idea for L’ville. :)

Where is the recommended location to buy a mattress pad and what is the recommended brand?

You will need Command hooks
http://www.command.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/NACommand/Command/Smart-Ideas/Dorms/

The Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, Walmart, & office supply stores near colleges & boarding schools will sell all dorm room stuff you need:

Command hooks

mattress topper

comfortable desk chair

desk lamps

fan

If you are a long-distance boarder, you can buy stuff near the school. I ordered stuff online and had it sent to the school (i.e. desk chair; monogrammed backpack from LLBean)

So his stuff wouldn’t get mixed up w other kids, I labelled/monogrammed just about everything. DS is only one in the family w custom monogrammed sheets.

@mrnephew Think again. Viewbook page 92

http://issuu.com/thelawrencevilleschool/docs/lawrenceville_viewbook#

We also saw swing chairs and other outdoor furnitures in the dorm patio.

Thinking again!

I want one.

Although, it would get really chilly in winter.

^ Ya think???

Maybe just slightly.
