Boarding School!

Helloooo.
I am a late applicant for boarding schools.
I am applying to cushing academy, NMH (NorthField mount hermont), Loomis Chaffee, and Governor's academy.

I'm so worried because i'm late and my applications will arrive around next week..
and i haven't taken the ssat yet and i'm taking it on April 17th which the results will be out to schools on April 30th ish..
I took a practice test I scored SO bad!! ahh imma shoot myself.
I got around 60% for math, 40ish for REading and 30ish for verbal..damn verbal is hard.

My school grades are good.
I have 5 As and 2 Bs. GPA= 3.6 ish or in percentile wise, 94%.
Do you think I will have the chance to get into any of these school? sigh..

what are you ecs?..
nmh shouldn’t be that hard…
what grade r u applying too?

i’m applying as a junior…this is even worse :(

oh… then its gonna be really hard for you
unless you stand out from the crowd…
why don’t you wait next year?
do you do any extra curricular stuff?

yeah. on the application I have a lot of information on extra stuffs
for example
unicef, haibtat for humanity, flute, piano, violin, synchronize swimming, ball, volleyball (but these instruments and sports were all in the past but i said i would love to cont. if the school offers)

and i think my essays pretty good…

oh!
okay then, well try your best :)

pleaese, why did you apply late?

i wasn’t planning to go to boarding schools until i had problems with my family and friends over in my old school :frowning:
it was such a rush! i think i’ve finished all my applications and study for ssats in about two weeks or so…crazy!

which schools did you apply to? and which school will you be going?

You’re a full pay applicant right? (I mean you don’t need financial aid). I think you do have good chance at those schools, and your scores aren’t bad at all. Did you call those schools to make sure they have available spots?
You may also look for other boarding schools, many have rolling deadline.
By the way, if you apply for any financial aid, your chance is zero :)

Why did you put a smiley face next to " by the way if you are applying for FA, your chance is zero" ? Not cool boardingschool, not cool…

Well maybe he wanted to make light of the situation?

Have you talked to the schools about their willingness to consider an application at this point?

But Hopeful, FA isn’t impossible to get at this point, granted it’s harder but if a lot of kids who need FA turn down NMH, then funds go into NMH for FA thus leaving FA available for late applicants and FA waitlisters…

Yeah I guess that is true too but you can’t predict how many NMHers will turn down NMH with FA.

Haha sorry, now I look back and it’s kind of a stupid smile  I didn’t mean to look down on FA applicants or anything (I myself applied for a lot of FA). It was more of a sneer at the greed of some schools…, and yeah, just trying to be lighthearted
I applied b4 the deadline but was put on FA waitlist or rejected by most schools. Now if you’re a very strong applicant who needs FA, you’d most likely end up in their already-long waitlist. If you’re not that strong, they’d simply reject you.
We already have many topics about waitlists, and we all know that schools accepted more than the # of spots they have (say, if they have 80 spots, they’d have already accepted 100, depending on the yield last year). There’s little chance that they’ll go to the waitlist, even smaller chance that there will be FA left. Even if some kids turn the school down, the school still have more accepted ppl who need FA. So don’t place your bet on that.
However, if please94 is full pay, I know some of the schools he/she mentioned would accept right away, given his/her grades and stuff.

My friend’s SSAT overall was 45% and she got into NMH!

Did she have a hook ?

No she didnt!

Was this this year ?

thanks all of you guys…im taking the ssat next week and I am so not prepared!
im so scared i might not get into any of em…
and yeah, im not applying for financial aid- that would really lower my chances.
but thankfully, i’m not!

and lindha, wow your comment really motivated me! HAHA
was she like a super-duper student? all As…great extracurriculars…etc?
if she was just an average student, thats really lucky haha

are all of you guys attending boarding schools or whattt?

Nope, I only applied to Andover and I got rejected but that’s ok, I’ll just apply next year lol it was my fault I didn’t study for the ISEE and I got like a 68% overall so it was my fault and I understand, good luck with your SSAT :D
