Boarding Schools and sex

along the lines of this thread, are boyfriend/girlfriend relationships typically brief at this age?

All over the map from hookups to long term relationships lasting many years while in BS and still going strong years after. Couples aren’t unusual lasting months to years.

So true, but there are few kids who does not participate, depends on kids also. How many? No idea.

I can’t clutch my pearls because my fingers are in my ears as I close my eyes and go “LA LA LA LA LA”.

Actually, you would have been the last person I would have thought of. Somehow, a twin-set and pearls is not how I imagined you @ChoatieMom

Not an option for this thread. I tend to revert any threads I am in back to the standard format.

Well, there is still the helpful button. But now you are scaring me with that “standard format” talk. :-?

@doschicos I couldn’t think of a better term. I meant to indicate the way threads appeared before this new “enhancement.”

So it is an “enhancement” not a glitch? Just wondering if we should be sharpening the pitchforks, @skieurope.

I believe the “enhancement” has been turned off for now. All threads are discussions, whether or not there’s a question in the title.

Back to teenagers and their hormones…

Andover’s student newspaper does a survey of students. If you look on the left hand side you can get results for the sexual activity section:

Thank you @doschicos

As with all the rules, so much depends on the individual adults in charge of enforcing them. The students very quickly learn which adults are sticklers about what sorts of rules. There may be adults at your child’s school who pretend they don’t see the girl or boy in the hockey bag but will run you out on a rail if you use that bag to bring in rotgut whiskey into their dorm, or vice versa. That, too, is racing.

Clutching my pearls over the 24 percent who have cheated on schoolwork or tests…

^^^I love you, @CaliMex !

Blushing…

Thanks @doschicos – can I use that for my avatar? :))

Sex is down amongst gen Z’ers compared to thwir millenial counter parts.

Drugs, sex, smoking are all down, so as much as people think “they must be doing” maybe not says the polls.

Again, you can get a handle for numbers in the Andover survey. I would imagine it isn’t too different at other boarding schools.

Also, a lot of folks question the reports that teen sex is actually down. If a survey asks about sexual intercourse, that precludes other forms of sexual activity (again, look at the Andover report and the breakdown of different forms of sexual activity). Someone can be technically a virgin, but very engaged in sexual activity. It all depends on the questions being asked.

you’re bursting my bubble @doschicos

^The girls and Sex book is pretty eye-opening/pearl-clutching in terms of specific activities.

Let’s just say that while kids may be virgins, they are keeping themselves busy in other ways.
