Hello I am a students from Rwanda in 11th grade. I am currently looking into schools in the New England/Mid-Atlantic regions as a repeat junior. Does anyone have any thoughts on good schools that may meet my financial needs? Thanks in advance.
You should post this in the Prep School Admiissions forum. (@skieurope Please move the thread.) I can tell you that financial aid for international students is rare, but not impossible. Do some research to find the schools with large endowments per student and generous financial aid (boardingschoolreview.com is a useful starting point, as is the Prep School Admissions forum on CC). After you identify schools that may be possibilities, I suggest you email the admissions offices with a BRIEF summary of your circumstances, your qualifications and special talents, and the reason you want to take this path, and see how they respond. Be aware the odds are against you, but you might as well try. Good luck!
Send an email to University of Hartford. It’s on the Hartford/West Hartford line. University of Hartford, at one point, was trying to arrange study opportunities for students from Rwanda. It’s worth a try to see if they might have any secondary school suggestions for you. Someone there might have some info that could help you.
We heard Paul Kagame speak about this…at University of Hartford…but that was about 5 years ago. I don’t know if it actually got off the ground.
@twinsmama thank you for the advice I’ll do just that.
Also, have you looked at any of the girls boarding private schools in Rwanda? Do that too.
