Bob Jones

yet, I do not feel the need to ridicule them for who they are--they are also people trying to better themselves with an education.

.....true dat, kali...true dat

"I would not ridicule them in an effort to show them how "modern" and intellectually superior I am to them and their beliefs:
Unless liberalism has simply degenerated into a cliquish mentality devoid of the principals that truly define it."

Let's hope not Kal!

I agree with you; to acknowledge difference is one thing... a superior and superficial attitude is another less tasteful thing altogether.

"Abercrombie & Fitch and its subsidiary Hollister have shown an unusual degree of antagonism to the name of Christ and an unusual display of wickedness in their promotions. In protest, we will not allow articles displaying their logos to be worn, carried, or displayed (even if covered or masked in some way)."

hahahahaha

AHHHHHHHAhahhahahahahaha

totally and bluirinka: That's not funny at all. Many A&F shirts have had racist and low ideals advertised in them, (e.g. anti-Asian, anti-West Virginia, etc).

that's quite all right to be offended by some abercrombie t-shirts (i remember the two wongs make one right one being pretty incindiary at the time) but the the little moose embroidered logo that is so popular these days doesn't quite strike me as anti-Christianity or wicked. But maybe that's just me...

Well, I can see that. Basically, it's boycotting because some things are offensive, and I personally agree with that. I also just don't like Abercrombie's "I'm going to pretend I don't care about my clothes and sport ripped jeans to prove it when in fact I care way too much about them and must buy pre-ripped jeans because I am way too stylish to actually wear in existing jeans."

IIRC, it was Urban Outfitters that had the anti-sinoite shirts. But I could be wrong seeing as how I have never been in one of their stores.

Here’s the boycott Abercrombie & Fitch petition because started because of the IMAGE they portray of ethnic minorities—Asians in particular:
<a href="http://www.petitiononline.com/BCAF/petition.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.petitiononline.com/BCAF/petition.html</a>
……………………..although, it probably doesn’t have the same “haaaahaaahaaaa” factor.

Here’s anarticle about why they should be boycotted:
<a href="http://www.macalester.edu/weekly/050302/quietly.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.macalester.edu/weekly/050302/quietly.html</a>
………………………again will probably elicit few “haaaaaaahaaaaaaaa’s”.

Here’s another non-funny link about the same issue:

I don't believe "sensitivity" is a part-time virtue.
I disagree with Bob Jones policies, but like some other posters, I don't believe it makes me a better person to demean those I disagree with. I can respectfully and actively disagree at the same time.

Nevermind, I was wrong! lol I think it was Urban Outfitters that had Ghetto Monopoly or something like that that didn't blow over all too well.

LOL today i went to a diner with two friends and were discussing where people were going to college. I mentioned that I wondered where these two very fundamentalist christian girls would go, and one of them says "Bob Jones University." Thanks to this thread, I was able to laugh my a$$ off and didn't appear ignorant! lol

One of my friends is fundamentalist christian looking at colleges like Messiah, and I kind of want to show her BJU, but I decided it might be too much.
