bobb specifics...

I'm going to be a freshman living at Bobb next year. I have already glanced through the lists of things to bring/not to bring and noticed that microwave ovens, coffee makers and anything else you heat stuff with is not allowed. Are there microwave ovens in floor lounges or somewhere else in the dorm or is there no way to heat up a cup of tea or make popcorn?

there are microwaves in the lounges..for sure...and i love BOBB-MC! yay!

Keep in mind too that if you really want a microwave or coffee maker, you can put them above your door. I had a mic because the one in the lounge was really dirty sometimes...actually, i was just that lazy. anyways, there is stuff to make food, but there is always a way to keep it in your room. just dont burn the popcorn in your room though.

If you do keep a microwave in your room, pray that you get a CA who won’t write you up if he/she sees it. :)

yeah, but if you keep a towel over it or shut the cupboard above the door, it is impossible for the ra to go in and see it. they cant just take a towel off of things or open things as they please. I feel there is too mcuh anxiety about RA's. None of them are out there to catch people or get people in trouble. If you arent stupid and loud with extra people in your room, drinking, having whatever appliance in your room, youll be fine. A good rule of thumb is, dont be an idiot. If you follow this and are generally safe, you will have very few problems with the RA's. And why do they call them selves CA's now, what the hell does that stand for?

Community Assistant.

The school says it wants them to help build “community”. I say the university just likes its bs renaming of things.

But I would definitely get a feel for my CAs before I start bending (or breaking) the rules; some CAs can be ruthless and mean, while others tend to care very little. It’s true that if you don’t do anything stupid you should be fine, however.

Very true, get a feel for the CA's...all in all though, just dont **** them off on purpose and sont be stupid.

As long as you keep them covered it's not a big deal.

Just don't be that guy who burns popcorn at 4 in the morning.
