Bobby to announce retirement in the AM

<p>Bobby Bowden met with TK and the AD this AM. It is being reported that he wanted to come back for one more year. It is being reported that he was given two options: he could return as an ambassador for the program (with no day to day decision making) or he could retire. ESPN is reporting that he has chosen to retire.</p>

<p>He had already made statements this past week about his last trip to the swamp, so he was clearly on board with Jimbo Fisher taking over by Jan 2011. But he wanted one more year. And he was not offered that.</p>

<p>The official announcement is to come in the morning.</p>

<p>The announcement has been delayed. He is now scheduled to meet with his players first. He meets with the players at 2:15pm. The University has no plans for a formal announcement today. They will not comment until Bobby Bowden has done so first.</p>

<p>The bowl game will be his last. Please let it be in Florida.</p>

<p>If the bowl game is the Gator Bowl then we’ll likely attend.</p>

<p>I know many disagree with FSU almost “forcing” him out, but this is in the best interests of the team and the University. It was time years ago; perhaps when he hired his son as the OC. </p>

<p>I’ve heard it’s nearly definite we’re headed to the Gator Bowl. I already have my tickets as it’s expected to sell out quickly once the announcement is official.</p>

<p>At first I thought it would be great to begin at FSU during what was supposed to be Bowden’s last season…but lets hope that someday in the future I’ll be just as happy about beginning at FSU during what will be Jimbo Fisher’s first season</p>
