so um, basically, ucb didn't TOTALLY reject me.

they want me to spend the first two years at UC Merced and then i'm guaranteed admission into UCB provided i keep my gpa up and stuff.

i'm so confused! i'm glad i wasn't totally rejected, but merced??? i'd rather just go to irvine. my friends are all going to top schools, and i'll be the only loser going to merced (yes, i realize this is shallow) and merced isn't even that good of a school or campus or climate or ANYTHING.

ugh.

and UCSD offered me Winter 2009 admission, which is almost just as bad. i only got into irvine and santa cruz for fall 2008. :(

i'd go to merced for 2 years... just suck it up... berkeley is so worth the wait and irvine isn't a top notch univ.

plus if u graduate 4m berkeley it will look amazing if ur applying to a grad program or if ur looking 4 a job!

good luck tho!

it's all part of the UC system's "Master Plan" for merced. it's got the worst rep out of all the UCs and no one wants to go there, so they're doing stuff like this to get people to go to it. if i were you, I would just go to irvine, and focus on doing really well for the first two years, then try to transfer. I think transfer admission is usually easier at UCs anyway, so if you focus those first 2 years and get a good gpa you should be able to transfer to berkeley without a problem.
