Hello everyone,
I am into body building and stuff and would like to know if I’ll have any problems in college, mainly in the living communities etc. Also Meal plans are way too expensive for me since I will not be eating there and will have my own meals prepared according to my needs. College doesn’t allow any less meal plan for freshmen, can I request them? Is there any way? thanks
Most colleges are like this during your freshman year. You could try and request a reduced meal plan or not to have one at all, but in my experience the university rarely grants these. You may want to talk to the person working with you on your meal plans and let them know you will have to work around the meal plan.
As for body building within the college community, there are many students who will be doing the same thing. You will not be alone in the gym by any means. That doesn’t mean though that you won’t be the only one on your floor or in your community who is. The main thing will be to not give into the many temptations college has to offer and not being afraid to say no if someone asks you to do something that doesn’t fit what you need to do to become your best self.
At Alabama, and I think at a lot of schools, every student is entitled to purchase the athletic meal plan. It costs more, but the athletic cafeteria has a wider variety of foods because it serves as a “training table” for athletes. You ought to look into it.
Many colleges may not have special athlete dining halls, but have sufficient offerings at the regular ones that the athletes can eat there.
Who is preparing your meals? Is this a service delivered to you?
One thing you could do is have your doctor to write a note and use it to get an exemption. Otherwise living off campus may be an option.
