Boland Hall...How is it?

Hi~guys!
I just received my housing assignment today.
And I will live in Boland Hall in Fall.
So...
I want to know more about this dorm.
How is this hall? Good or bad?
What should I know and concern? And What should I do before I go to the dorm?
Any other experience and suggestion?????
I would like to hear these advices~~~
Thx!!!!!

First of all which floor?!!!

My friend is an RA on the 8th floor and a friend of mine is living on the 4th floor so I migth even see you this year! way cool! I lived in Brewster last year, right next door.

Pros
Brockway has great food! Probably some of the best on campus!
One of the three dorms that has its own gym downstairs.
On the flip side there is a burger king downstairs as well.
There’s a lounge area as well that has a pool table and some fooseball so thats pretty cool.
BBB is like its own community. You learn to know everyone that lives there.

CONS
Flashing your ID to the RSA’s after walking in, EVERYTIME. it gets annoying.
Kinda far from campus
A hike to campus
Walking back from campus on windy or rainy days can really suck because the windy can really whiplash you waaay back. I would suggest getting the best umbrella you can get your hands on!
of course, the infamous law stairs after the walk up the hill, in the end its not really that bad but lets just say im glad im living on south campus next year lol

OVERALL
i think out of all the dorm rooms BBB is best for a quality freshman experience.

Thx!!!Angelbigbird!!!
I will live in the second floor.
Are there any differences between the floors, too? lol~
It sounds good for the BBB community~
If you could, I want to know more about the interior of the rooms. That is also important.
Thanks again!!!
wish to see you in SU soon!!!

I think we might have the same circle of friends Angelbigbird. Would you mind sharing your name?

Knight, which kind of room do you have? I have been in every type of room in BBB lol.

And no, there are no differences between the floors, oh and i forgot to mention that BBB has its own computer cluster as well which will DEFINITELY come in handy!

Haha. BBB is definitely the way AngelBird put it. She forget to mention how it has been recently renovated so it will be the best looking after Ernie Davis. It’s almost as if they put the place with the best food further from campus for health reasons. Not sure which is worse between treking up the drunken stairs to get to Flint/Day or treking down to get to BBB.

To Angelbigbird:
I will live in the split double in Fall.
Is it good??? What should I know???
You have lost of experiences in housing~
Thanks again for your sharing the experiences!!!
BBB community sounds nice~I think I will love it!

To House of London:
I don’t know BBB has been renovated. I just know that a new hall which is Ernie Davis will begin to use this Fall.
And the facility also will be renovated inside???

Thx again, everyone!!!^_^

This thread has been really helpful to me too! haha…I’m also in a split double this fall, and I was just wondering what the partition part looks like, like the space for the desk etc…I tried looking on the housing website, and the virtual tour doesn’t really help…

Thanks for your help!

THE SPLIT DOUBLE IS THE BEST!!! You are really lucky!! I had a split double but beware, one side if bigger than the other, if you come early get the bigger you won’t regret it.

It has lots of shelves and stuff, I took some pictures of my room, if you send me ur e-mail I’ll send you them if you are that curious!

I don’t know if I have pictures of every bit of space but I know for sure that the split doubles have PLENTY of shelf space, plenty of closet space, and the beds are raised really high so don’t bother buying bed risers.

Wow~I am really lucky as a freshmen~
Haha!!!
I will come later than my roommate which is on 26, August.
But it doesn’t matter to me for the size of the room, because I get friendly with my roommate.
We both choose each other as roommate this year.

Angelbigbird, I would like to know more about the inside of the room ^^
The housing website and the virtual tour doesn’t really help as jmc121790 mentioned!!!
I am a curious person…haha~~
So… here is my email:

Your name is right. You are an angel!!! ^^
Thx again!!!

I sent the e-mails! I hope it helps!

Thx a lot!!!Angelbigbird!!!

Hi!

I was wondering if you know if there is any way i could switch rooms because i don’t think i want a split double. I feel like there is less space and i dont know where my roommate and i would put the tv and the microfridge.

Also, i saw that you said you are friends with the RA on the 8th floor. My room is on the 8th floor so I was wondering what is she / he like? I really want to be able to get along with my RA!

If you had your choice would boland have been your first choice? I’m concerned about how far away it is from everything.

Thanks!

Please note that this thread is two years old. Split doubles are great for privacy and preserving friendship - you just have to be comfortable going on each other’s halves to watch tv and use microfridge.
