I’m a senior this year who is planning to apply for Questbridge. Due to a crazy junior year, I wasn’t able to take any SAT Subject tests until the August test date. Throughout July and August, I was super busy- I was in a chamber music intensive for three weeks, I was out of town at a dance camp, and I spent a week teaching an advanced debate camp (which required weeks of preparation in terms of preparing teaching materials, creating PowerPoints, etc.) I also started classes the week before I took the tests. As soon as the tests were over, I had to go play the opening of a recital for a concert pianist. Basically, not the best time to be taking important tests.
I signed up to take 3 SAT Subject tests (Lit, World History, and Math II), but I didn’t end up having time to study much for any of the tests, especially in the two weeks leading up to the test. I was exhausted the morning I had to test. I’m naturally better at humanities, so I still ended up scoring well on Lit and World History, but I completely bombed the Math II test (580). I am freaking out right now because I know that Questbridge requires you to submit all test scores, and that score is not reflective at all of my math abilities. I’ve gotten As in all my math courses and got a 750 on SAT Math last year. I don’t know what I should do. Will this ruin my chances at being accepted as a Finalist? Or even if I was still accepted as a Finalist, would this ruin my chances at being matched? Is there any way I can explain the score on the Questbridge application without coming across as whiny? I am terrified that this could knock me out of the process completely. Any insights would be appreciated
