Bon Appetit dining hall food

I guess Beloit's switching to it this fall.....is it good? Healthy? Are there a lot of choices of entrees, etc?

Depends on the school. At mine we had two main entrees every day (lunch and dinner, breakfast varied between pancakes and french toast), a salad bar, a soup bar, a pizza area, cereal, a grill, dessert, and a samwitch place.

To be honest, I got rather sick of it.

I’ve had it before and at that school, there were a good selection on healthy foods and unhealthy. They had pizza slices as big as your freaking head.

It all depends… Thats actually a good question to ask your tour guide, if you go on a tour :)

In all, I’ve never found the food (from visiting other campuses and feedback from others at different schools) to be absolutely terrible. Some of the on-campus restaurants (not diners) served lower quality food, I have found. Chances are, you will get burned out of the dining hall as a whole (for a little while) and branch out a bit.

My school serves Bon Appetit, and I find the quality to be fine. It’s not fantastic, but it’s definitely not bad either. It gets a little repetitive, but I feel like there’s enough variety and good enough quality that everyone should be able to find something.

Bon Appetit here has very good food, focusing a lot on sustainable choices and there’s a vegan option at nearly every station. They will only use what’s local and in season though which means bananas and tomatoes are a rarity in my life

They like to try really hard to be creative and unusual. The salad bar is the only constant in our main dining hall, unlike other schools we don’t always have pizza or burgers or sandwiches. Well in our late-night dining hall we do, but not in the main one.

Yeah when I went to visit Beloit I believe they had 2 main entrees - fajitas and pulled pork. They also had rice, refried beans, cheeses, etc. There was a salad bar, too, with fruit. Compared to other schools that I’ve eaten at, they had a much smaller selection of food…but Beloit was also the smallest school I applied to.

Roger Williams uses Bon Appetit and I (the parent) wish I lived closer and they’d offer me a meal plan :-)
