Probably a bit early, but I'll ask anyway. Do the UCLA book buyback people buy books that haven't been purchased through the UCLA store? I guess I can sell them online, but I'd rather not.

yes they do

what % of the original price are we able to get back for the buyback? should i just sell them back or can i make more money back if i sell online?

it depends. sometimes they give next to nothing. and sometimes (rarely) they give more or close to the 'street price' online. you can go and ask them for the value, then decide if you want to 'sell' the book to them or not.

i think they have some price estimator online, but its inaccurate.

whoa... they DO take books you didn't buy from them? i soo didn't know that.
i'm assuming they have to be books that will be used the next quarter, then? what rate do you get- the same as for books you bought from them?

they cant tell if you got it from them or not. unless it obviously has some other university's stamping on it. not sure what they do in that situation.

ohhh i see xD

So my chem14a book had pages that fell out, *&)(%$^, and I hot glued it back together. I wonder how much I can sell it for, hahaha. Still totally usable and legible!

if it's just a few pages that fell out and it's still usable, then they will buy it back with no hesitation.

they'll even buy the book back if the book is heavily highlighted.

the default buyback rate is 50% of the used price [unsure]

and they do not buy books back if they are old editions (not being used).
