Hi, I don't know if this was mentioned before, but a student from Harvard wrote a book called "Privilege" that came out recently. It's by Ross Gregory Douthat. He happened to come from my neck of the woods which is why I picked it up, but it gives a good glimpse into what he experienced there. I picked it up at the library and it was a fast read and I'm sure would be interesting to incoming freshman.
Even though I've heard about it at Yale for years being nearby, the grade inflation is still unnerving. If you get a C, you should get a C (at least most of the time) but that's the way it is, at least for now. I remember a few years ago, a grad student showing my husband who was there for a talk, a students paper. He said it looked like a "C" high schooler wrote it at best. She had to give him at least a B+ or hear about it. Why students that got such high SAT scores would need so much help, is questionable. Her take was that some were excellent in certain areas, others were prepped to death for their scores and couldn't do that work on a consistant basis. She went through it also. Well, all and all, you still get an education and most pay a lot for the diploma and jobs afterwards.

SORRY, didn't see it my first search and saw it has been done MANY times!
