Book Club

Hey everyone I really want to start a Book Club at my school, the only writing related thing we have is the newspaper and that's something I'm not interested in. I really want to have a Book Club I think it'll be fun and our vocabulary and reading will improve. I was wondering how I should start this Book Club? Where to begin? How often should meeting be held and so forth? Please help me out! Much appreciated.

Someone will probably have something better than me to say but here it goes anyways. A book club sounds great! I would definitely join it since I love to read. At our school there's a form we have to submit so you may want to check it out. Normally there needs to be a teacher advisor so I say pick a teacher you really like and ask them. If they aren't too interested, then just say they don't need to do anything except be in the room. I suggest meeting at lunch because sometimes meeting after school is hard plus this way you guys have something specific to talk about. It might be a good idea to just set up the 1st meeting and then at that meeting see when everyone wants to meet. It will depend if you are all reading the same book or are just talking about any books you have read recently. Don't make it mandatory that you have have a new book every week because people may not like that if they are busy. Hope you get your club started!

I wish people at my school could read! I would LOVE to start/join a club like that!

first, make a poll. u have to ask urself, "how many ppl would be willing to join a book club?" a kid at my school started a book club, but there were ;ike, four members. i love to read, but i thought i'd rather join the debate club and newspaper rather than the book club, because i wasnt sure they would cover books i like, or whether they would choose childish books, etc.

Thank you guys so much for all the advice! It's really helpful. I think I will start a poll first to see how much people are willing to dedicate their time to my Book Club and I will certainly confirm with a teacher about my idea. Thank you guys again! I'm thinking that all of us all agree on a book that we ALL want to read then after we finish we can all discuss the book in deep thought.

See how all the other clubs at your school are run and follow them.

I'm the President of my Book Club at school. Lemme tell you, it's difficult to make people read the same book around the same time. Classes are top priority compared to a book for a club.

I started Book Club at my school last year! It is fricken awesome. but anyways first tyhing to do is run it by the principle, then find a teacher(maybe the librarian) to be the teacher sponor, then put up fliers to get people to come and voila you have a book club! Good luck in starting it!
