I was told that we can go on Oasis and get our book list, but for some reason, it's not working for me. Is anybody having success finding there book list for next year?

In the past, you could go to the USC Bookstore website (link is on the main website), and there was a link on the lefthand side that said, "Booklist for your courses". Then you entered your ID number and it would give you your booklist.

I was told that the book list would not be available until August 7th.

You can get your booklist both at OASIS and at the bookstore (per larationalist's instructions) at the appropriate time (August 7 sounds a bit late, though, I'm not sure).

Tips for Getting Your Book List

Your booklist is available after you have registered for your classes. If you have not registered, go to WebRegistration first.
A list of your textbooks can be found online here. To log in, first select the semester you wish to look up. Use your student ID, without the dashes, as your login name. Use your birthday as the password (for example, type 013083 if your birthday is January 30th 1983) You can also access this list from computers available on the 3rd floor of the bookstore.

Once logged in, the next page will be a list of books your classes require for the semester. The list will have all the information you need to locate your books, as well as the prices. Books marked with "R" are required for your classes, and those marked with "O" are optional, and may serve as helpful study guides. . PLEASE NOTE: Used books are limited in quantity, and may not be available at the time of your purchase. Also, textbook prices may change on a daily basis, and therefore, prices are only guaranteed for the calendar day that the list is printed

I just went to the URL that i posted above, and it simply points you to OASIS. When we go to OASIS, it still shows Summer 2006 as the booklist period. The post above about August 7th does sound like what we heard at Orientation.

That doesn't seem like enough time if you wanted to get your books from somewhere other than the bookstore.

Classes begin two weeks after the booklist comes online. That should be more than enough time to order and ship from other vendors.

Yeah, order your books as soon as you get the book list.

What are the sources other than the bookstore that students generally use to purchase used books?

lol, I don't usually order books from amazon.com until sometime during the 1st week of classes, that way I can check and see if the book is really required or not. But it's kinda risky to do that, to be on the safe side just buy when you find out.

Half.com is great for used books. Between that and Amazon Marketplace, you can save 50% or more on your books. I use those two the most, but you can use a bookstore search engine like AddAll.com to compare prices at many online stores at once.
